Professional Life and Practice
Melanie is an associate attorney at Brown, Christie & Green where she focuses her practice on nursing home abuse and medical malpractice. She was sworn into the Texas State Bar in 2017 and has been working with Brown, Christie & Green ever since she was admitted into practice. Melanie is passionate about advocating for her clients and holding negligent healthcare providers responsible for their actions. She is a strong believer in the power of the justice system and how it can affect lasting change in the healthcare system.
In her practice, Melanie enjoys cultivating strong relationships with her clients, and is dedicated to explaining the complicated litigation process to her clients through every step of the way. Her goal for every case is to ensure her clients feel that their concerns have been heard and addressed, and that someone has advocated on their behalf to the fullest extent possible. Melanie is also a native Spanish speaker, and enjoys building relationships with clients from all nationalities and all walks of life.
Melanie was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to the Houston area in 2005. She attended Baylor University where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She then continued her education and attended the Baylor University School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor. While at Baylor Law School, Melanie enjoyed working through the rigorous Practice Court program, which is designed to prepare young attorneys to become successful trial lawyers. Melanie also enjoyed participating in Baylor Law’s in-school Moot Court competition, where she placed as a semi-finalist and was recognized for her strong writing and oral argument skills. As a result of her in-school Moot Court success, Melanie was also invited to compete in a National Moot Court competition in Washington, D.C. Melanie was also a part of the Baylor Barrister Society, which involved judging moot court and mock trial competitions, and was an active member of the Women in Law organization.
In her spare time, Melanie enjoys training in Muay Thai and boxing. Melanie also works pro-bono with KIND, a non-profit organization. She is also an avid reader and enjoys cheering for the Houston Astros.
